We bookworms always know there’s that one book we’ve been longing to read that will keep us captivated.
Yes, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams is that book for me. It’s a love story, an homage to the Harlem Renaissance, a touch of the supernatural all rolled into one.
And it all starts when Ricki Wilde makes a decision to not join the family mortuary business. While her family mocks her for her decision, a chance
encounter with nonagenarian Della has her moving from Buckhead, Georgia to Harlem in the Big Apple to make her dream of opening a flower shop come true.
But Ricki isn’t expecting a mysterious stranger to walk into her life. Nor is she expecting his secret to have such an impact on her and everything she believes in.
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is so riveting – yes, it’s a pageturner and it will keep you up at night. I know it’s kept me up a few nights with not wanting to put it down. Such well-written backstory and for all of the characters and a great character and plot arc. And, yes, a swoonworthy love story. It’s exactly what I needed – a little magical realism and the supernatural, a lot of romance with a Harlem twist and I am sure you will love it.
