Sometimes you need something that sends a few chills up your spine…even when you’re in the mood for romance. yes, I know, it sounds like it shouldn’t go together but I’ll Conjure for You, the second book in the the Beck Sisters Hauntings series by Charish Reid, delivers romance and horror in satisfying dollops.

Helen Beck is training to be a witch, like her dearly departed and eccentric grandmother who has left a bed and breakfast to Helen and her sister, Whitney (check out the first book in the series, I’ll Come Back for You for Whitney’s story).
Helen is learning to handle her dormant powers as a witch, something she’s inherited from her late grandmother. She’s also dealing with ADHD, making it difficult to stay focused, and a secret from her past that shames her.
And then there’s her attraction for Everett, the hot manager of the lcoal hardware store who leaves her hot and bothered…and who is tongue-tied whenever he’s around Helen. When Everett’s grandmother begins feeling unwell after buying pieces of furniture from an estate sale, Helen begins to suspect that ghosts may be involved.
I’ll Conjure for You gives you a nicely balanced dose of horror and romance as we follow Helen and Everett’s love story and what’s haunting Everett’s grandmother’s house.
I could have gone for a wee bit more horror (I admit – though you all know I am a romantic fiction chica, I appreciate a good ghost/demon story a la The Shining), but I loved the chemistry between Helen and Everett, the descriptions of the eerieness at his grandmother’s house when we know something paranormal is afoot, and everything that follows.
Do you need to read I’ll Come Back for You to understand I’ll Conjure for You? Not really. Charish gives you enough backstory to know what happened in the first book so you feel quite settled in the world she’s created. However, I would still suggest reading both books to get the full experience.
Anyway, I loved reading this book and hope there will be anothr book in the series!
