So it’s November and I am in the midst of NaNoWriMo. It’s Day 5 and, after four days of staying on target, I have fallen behind. I felt like I needed a day off and I am giving it to myself.
In case you’re wondering, I am still working on Near Enough to Hold. I promise the end is coming. I’m really sorry it’s taking so long. I had some stress-related problems due to work and I needed to take care of myself, which meant taking a short break from writing and focusing on my health. I’m now writing again–and working on the last second of Near Enough to Hold and NaNoWriMo. The last section is closing in on 15,000 words. I think it will be worth the wait.
Soon it will be Thanksgiving and my Month of Giving will officially begin. If this is your first time here, you may not know about this initiative. Every year, through the sales of my books, I donate money to several charities. This year, I have decided to support one charity, the Strawberry Mansion Learning Center in my hometown of Philadelphia. Kevin Upshur founded the centre in what was once a bar owned by his mother. Opening the centre was his way of honouring her and a promise he made to her.
This year, I’ve started a Facebook Fundraiser and hope enough people will join me so that I can reach my goal of $300 by 31 December.
I will also donate 50% of the money I make (between 23 November and 31 December) from the sales of my books. This includes autographed paperbacks–my Signed, Sealed, Delivered offer. I’ll be sharing an order form soon, so if you want to give autographed of Snowbound, Maybe Baby, Maybe Forever or Maybe Tomorrow to friends, all you’ll need to do is fill in the form and pay via PayPal and I will autograph, wrap and send the book to whomever you like.
That’s it for now. It’s nearly bedtime in Sweden, so I need to relax before I return to work tomorrow.
