Giving up on NaNoWriMo and not happy about it

Screen Shot 2017-11-27 at 20.25.16.pngWell, NaNoWriMo has pretty much been bust for me–NOT because I haven’t had good idea. I’ve had a fantastic idea, but I’ve also had to work from home at the weekends and try to stay on deadline with a project.

Have I managed?

Of course not.

It’s just been too much going on, which has meant I have had to say no to things because of work. And one of those things that has had to fall to the wayside was my NaNoWriMo story. The *only* good thing is that I know exactly where the story should go and I can finish it later this year or, at the latest, end of January.

So why so busy? I’ve been working on a project in which the parameters of it keep changing. No, it’s NOT fun, but that’s life when you work for a big company. Lately, I’ve had way too many people telling me not to take it personally, but–actually, the Harvard  Business Review says that is the worst advice any boss can give.

The last few months, I’ve been working on a very complicated project that seems to grow in size no matter what. It’s been incredibly frustrating and having an internal client who has not always been especially polite doesn’t make things much better.

In the meantime, I am still working on Maybe Now. I am also still working on my NaNoWriMo novel from last year, A Piece of My Heart. I am pretty sure I will be done soon. I feel like I’ve come as far as I can with it, but I won’t release it until next August.

Anyway, I am a NaNoWriMo loser, but I am okay with that. At least I wrote every single day, which is better than last year. 🙂
